Vice President of Operations (Manufacturing) - Broomfield

The VP of Operations will lead and manage the profitable sustained growth of Carefree of Colorado through effective management of all operations activities.

Minimum requirements for the VP of Operations position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Engineering or relevant discipline (MBA is a plus)
  • Full responsibility for operations portion of P&L
  • 10+ years’ experience managing multiple manufacturing operations departments
  • Minimum 7 years in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience and proven success in Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies

  • Lean and Continuous Improvement certifications

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification


Primary responsibilities of the VP of Operations position include:

Lead and manage the profitable sustained growth of Carefree of Colorado through effective strategic planning and management of all operations activities.

Develop and implement, ever improving world-class processes and systems to produce at the lowest cost consistent with optimum quality for complete customer satisfaction.

Identify and lead the development of new processes, technologies and implement an environment capable of meeting our customer’s quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Lead a quality minded organization that is focused on producing ever improved products and processes. 

Ensure the quality of our daily manufacturing output is verified via proper & documented processes and audits. 

Coordinate product development, materials and manufacturing to ensure an efficient introduction of all new products including material availability, tooling and assembly instructions, and excess and obsolete resolution.

Organize, lead and motivate the specific teams responsible for continuous improvements in Safety; Waste/Scrap Reduction; Quality; and Productivity.

Manage the manufacturing function in all locations, and the discipline required to ensure the factory produces 100% of the orders we have committed to build each & every day so as to satisfy all delivery requirements and all service commitments.

Develop and implement an appropriate vision for material planning to ensure product is available to meet customer requirements and meet annual operating plan inventory objectives. 

Maximize opportunities to enhance domestic manufacturing with lower cost offshore capabilities through appropriate scheduling methods and utilization of purchased sub assembly components. 

Oversee the building and development of a dynamic, effective team of operations professionals that deliver positive, measureable results fully meeting planned sales requirements as well as quality, safety and productivity objectives. 

Ensure accountability of the Operations team for key operational metrics such as on-time delivery, scrap, inventory, productivity, quality and safety. 

Partner with Sales and Engineering to ensure customer expectations, production volumes and production timing can be achieved successfully. 

Together with the President, evaluate growth plans to ensure core strategic goals can be met profitably with appropriate risk.


In addition to the minimum requirements listed above, qualified candidates must possess the following:

  • Proven strategic planning, organization, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Excellent budget and project management skills

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate team interactions and partner with Sales, Engineering, Finance and other areas

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and diverse environment 

  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of MRP or ERP systems as well as other business systems
